Key research projects

The I3A manages between 200 and 300 international, national, regional and local projects each year. Basic and applied research, as well as the management of both public and private funds.

Below we show some projects considered key due to their relevance and the reflection they make of the quality of the Institute and its researchers:

Development of a new generation of cycle lanes that will integrate new technologies from multiple sectors to help increase comfort, safety, the environment and communications in the cycle lane environment, and thus contribute to promoting sustainable transport.

"Heart On chip" based on induced pluripotent stem cell technology for personalized medicine

"Organs-on-a-chip" based on microfluidic technology represents a powerful tool for investigating rare disease mechanisms and testing new drugs and treatments due to its ability to mimic bespoke microenvironment architecture inspired by organ-level functions in vivo.

Is your heart aging well? A systems biology approach to characterize cardiac aging from the cell to the body surface

Knowing the aging rhythms of the heart and developing patterns that help prevent arrhythmias are some of the objectives of the Modelage project, led by Esther Pueyo, a researcher at the BSICoS group.
