PRIMAGE will address the study of two types of pediatric cancer with high mortality and therapeutic complexity: neuroblastoma and diffuse brain stem glioma. The consortium will exploit the detailed information provided by medical imaging to establish the features of the tumours, their prognosis and the expected response to treatment through what is known as radiomics, imaging biomarkers and artificial intelligence. This knowledge will be transferable to all European hospitals and centers specialized in this type of childhood cancer. Due to the peculiarities of the computational approach to these two types of tumours prevalent in children, research in this field will also be applicable to other types of tumours.
This project involves 16 highly prestigious European institutions, is financed with more than 10 million euros through the European Horizon2020 programme GA 826494), will last 4 years and is one of the most important milestones in funding and scientific recognition achieved in Spain.
