This research area focuses on the study and development of relevant data management techniques for users in dynamic mobile computing environments. This includes the development of software architectures for location-based services (Location-Based Services or LBSs), data management in vehicular networks, mobile agent technology, and management of data streams (for example, sensor data).
Here are some of the applications of systems that access to data efficiently in mobile computing environments, created in current and past SID research projects. Prototype applications demonstrate how traditional data access techniques should be adapted to the features of wireles environments where continuous changes of locations of users, the big heterogeneity in movile devices and their features (size, network technology, battery and computing capabilities), and the wireless communication itself are very challenging.
