Job description
PI2SAC Project - Integrated Photonics for Sensing and Communications Integration (PID2023-148342OB-I00)
The main objective of PISAC is the development of integrated photonics circuits (PICs) based on coherent optical techniques for the integration of sensing and communications functions over the same fibre optic link.
Tasks:
- Development of an integrated optical transmitter incorporating the various opto-electronic components necessary for both sensing interrogation and communications transmission.
- Design of coherent receivers to fulfil the dual functionality of sensing for sensing and communications, based on the group's experience in the design of architectures for access networks.
- Integration of sensing signals and telecommunication signals in the same optical fibre by studying different alternatives for a more robust coexistence with low mutual interference.
The Photonic Technologies Group (GTF) of the University of Zaragoza is a highly multidisciplinary research team with a wide experience in research with a clear focus on the final application and looking for its transfer to society. The GTF can offer:
- Training and active participation. The main mission of the group is the training of our students and researchers. In addition, the students are a member of the team and participate actively in all the phases and decisions taken in the group.
- Research stays and international collaborations. The group actively collaborates with different research groups and companies, which facilitates stays in other research centres, broadening the training of our students.
- Participation in transfer. The group has a clearly defined vision of research oriented towards its application and transfer to society. For this reason, active collaboration with technological entities and companies is encouraged in order to facilitate both the transfer of knowledge and the future incorporation of our students.
