Estimados investigadores/as,

1. Ethical aspects in scientific research (09:30 - 11:30)
In this first session we will discuss all ethics issues that might be associated with a scientific research project, including: misuse, dual use, benefit sharing, human embryonic stem cells and human embryos, participation of human beings in biomedical and social sciences research projects, use of cells or organs from human beings in research, use of personal data in research projects, use of pathogenic agents, use of genetically modified organisms, use of animals in research, use of artificial intelligence in research, participation of non-EU countries in research projects and laboratory biosafety considerations. All these issues must be assessed in every scientific project and the researchers must address all these points in response to this mandatory request emerging directly from the society through the existing laws that we must comply with.
2. The relevance of research integrity (12:00 - 14:00)
Research integrity seats at the core of the scientific progress and represents a genuine approach that must be adopted by all researchers in their search for the truth. It also underlines the trust of results published by other researchers that are used to advance in our knowledge and the respect for the scientific registry, which should not be contaminated by invented, copied or altered results, forcing them to erroneously support a pre-existing hypothesis. In this section we will discuss about reproducibility in research, about the Codes of Good Scientific Practices, about the need to teach about integrity and about the reasons and consequences of research misconduct, for the researchers involved, for the research community and for the society as a whole. This section will be illustrated critically with numerous examples of research misconduct.
