Stanford University (California, USA) has once again published the "Ranking of the World Scientists: World's Top 2% Scientists", in which 26 researchers from the Aragon Institute for Engineering Research (I3A) are among the 2% of the most influential in the world in their scientific careers, or among the most influential in 2022, 12 of them are part of both lists.
The Stanford University ranking is considered the most prestigious in the world and includes more than 200,000 scientists from different fields of work. Standardised information is provided on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations of articles in different authorship positions and a composite indicator (c-score). Data are shown separately for one-year and full-career impact.
The I3A researchers included in this "Top 2%" of Stanford University for their scientific career are Cristina Nerín and Martín Resano, from the Area of Analytical Chemistry; José María Marín, Luis Miguel Romeo, Belén Zalba and Miguel Ángel Lozano, in Thermal Engines and Machines; Juan Domingo Tardós and Manuel Silva (deceased in November 2022), in Systems Engineering and Electronics; José Manuel García Aznar, Estefanía Peña and Manuel Doblaré, in Mechanics of Continuous Media and Theory of Structures; Pablo Laguna, in Signal Theory and Communications; Joan Manyá and Rafael Bilbao, in Chemical Engineering; Pilar García-Navarro, in Fluid Mechanics; Carla María Roque (ARAID researcher), in Biomedical Engineering; Uxue Alzueta, in Environmental Technologies; José Miguel Burdío, Jesús Acero and Óscar Lucía, in Electronic Technology; Fernando Bobillo, in Computer Languages and Systems; Santiago Celma, in Electronics; and Claudio Carretero, in Applied Physics.
In addition, Stanford University also publishes the ranking in which it includes the 2% of the most influential scientists of the year 2022, in which Javier Civera and José María Martínez Montiel, from the area of Systems Engineering and Automation, and Héctor Sarnago, from the area of Electronic Technology, have entered. Along with these three I3A researchers, 12 others also appear on the list that values the entire scientific career: Cristina Nerín, José María Marín, Juan Domingo Tardós, Estefanía Peña, Manuel Doblaré, Pablo Laguna, Joan Manyá, Uxue Alzueta, Belén Zalba, José Miguel Burdío, Óscar Lucía and Jesús Acero.
About the study
"Updated databases of authors from across science of standardised citation indicators". Selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by a scoring system based on the number of citations received to their research papers (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or higher in the subfield. Scientists are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, according to the standard Science-Metrix classification. Field- and subfield-specific percentiles are also provided for all scientists who have published at least 5 articles. Data for the entire career are updated until the end of 2022 and data for a single recent year pertain to citations received during the year 2022.
